Academics

Vernon Parish is dedicated to providing a high-quality curriculum that is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with Louisiana Standards. Our goal is to ensure effective learning in every classroom. The Louisiana Standards are implemented at all grade levels in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Educators engage in continuous professional development focused on research-based best instructional practices.
Our motto, "Every Child, Every Day, Whatever It Takes," keeps students at the center of the educational process. This journey begins with our early childhood programs, Head Start and LA-4, which offer developmentally appropriate learning activities in an environment designed to support children's social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative growth.
As students advance through elementary grades, literacy and numeracy take center stage across the curriculum. Students learn to think critically and apply their skills in all subject areas at every grade level. In middle and high school, we provide additional opportunities through gifted, honors, advanced placement, dual enrollment, and Jump Start programs.
In addition to the core curriculum, Vernon Parish schools offer a variety of electives, enrichment programs, and extracurricular activities. The needs of exceptional children are addressed in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. These innovative programs prepare our graduates to pursue further education and/or enter the workforce.
